When playing Texas 홀덤사이트, all players are dealt two cards face down. We call this a ‘starting hand’ or ‘hole card’. Then there are betting rounds where you can check, call, bet or fold. The first stage of the game is called preflop and what action you take depends on that ‘hole card’. If you’re not sure which starting hand has good value, check out our Poker Hand Rankings page?
When all bets are complete, three community cards are dealt on the table. We call this the flop.
After that there are bets on the flop round and the 4th Community Card Turn card is opened.
Then there is the turn round betting round followed by the last community card river card, the last betting round and the show down.
Showdown uses 2 hole cards and 5 community cards to create the best Texas Hold’em pedigree. If you don’t know the Texas Hold’em genealogy yet? Click here to learn about the poker genealogy!
In Texas Hold’em, there is a marker called ‘Button’ or ‘Dealer Button’, which indicates the player who is the dealer (original Texas Hold’em, players took turns playing the dealer without a professional dealer). Clockwise, ‘Small Blind’ and ‘Big Blind’ are decided. The big blind forces you to place a bet twice the size of the small blind. In the limit hold’em game, there are cases where the big blind and the small blind are not always double. Using no-limit hold’em as an example, in a $1/$2 game, the small blind is $1 and the big blind is $2 in the pot.
Depending on the structure of the game, each player may also post an ‘Ante’ (another type of forced bet, usually smaller than the blind, to be paid by all players at the table) into the pot.
The first thing you should look at when sitting at the online poker table is the dealer button. This little button shows that the dealer is, so you can calculate your own table position (in betting order). The first two seats to the left of the dealer will be the Small Blind and the Big Blind. They start the game by betting a fixed amount on each hand. After that, the action sequence moves clockwise relative to the table, and all Texas Hold’em players choose a different strategy based on their position.
Early position (out position)
The player to the left of the big blind is called ‘Under the Gun’. Depending on how many people are playing at the table, this position is known as early position and is the most difficult to play because you don’t know what other people will do. So, in theory, you should play only the best hands (10 or more, ace king, ace queen).
The dealer button moves clockwise for each plate, so don’t worry about the bad seats.
A seat at that location is a relatively good spot because you can see what the first player is doing. Players in high jack positions are encouraged to raise any pair.
Late position (in position)
The late position (cut off, button) is the best place in hold’em because it gives you the opportunity to see what other people are doing in front of you. You can still blind steal (win straight preflop) with a bad hand if everyone else folds. It is possible to rise even with many cards of the same shape, such as the Suit Ace Card and Suit Connect. Preflop, the small blind and the big blind are in late positions, so if no one has risen yet, the blind has the option to take action. However, you have to be careful because the two blinds are the fastest early positions on the flop, turn, and river after pre-flop.
The reasons why positions are important in online hold’em are as follows.
- When you are in the in position, you can play with more information about your opponent.
- In-position can seize cost-effective bluffing opportunities.
- You can control the pot.
